ENEL S.p.A., together with its subsidiaries, primarily engages in the generation, distribution, and sale of electricity in Europe, and North and Latin America. The company also had a total of 1,096,300 kilometers of transmission lines, mostly medium and low voltage, and 415,934 primary and secondary transformer substations. It sold electricity to approximately 30 million customers. In addition, ENEL engages in the import, distribution, and sale of natural gas in Italy. The company offered natural gas distribution services to approximately 2.3 million end users in 1,243 municipalities.
